What the client reports
They accepted a legacy company-membership invitation but need someone at their company to approve them before opening Portal. Use this guide when Portal explicitly asks for that company approval. It does not describe an Approver grant for work sign-off.
Why it happens
A creating agency with its live stewardship grant can invite people directly. For another agency’s invitation, Watson verifies the mailbox and asks I’m part of Acme when a non-public company email matches an existing company’s principal domain. They join as a Member when the company’s Join by company email switch is on; an existing Member is recognised without joining twice.
Only the Owner changes this switch. If it is off, these invitees wait for colleague approval. Public email addresses, such as Gmail, also wait for approval. A colleague invitation from a non-Read-Only Member joins directly at the principal domain; other domains need approval.
Fix
- Ask an active non-Read-Only Member of the client company who does not also belong to your agency to open the approval email and select Approve. A Read-Only Portal role cannot approve.
- The Owner may check Join by company email if the invitee uses the company’s principal domain.
- If nobody at the client can approve, contact Watson support.
Approval adds company Membership and connects this agency’s Portal. It does not share another agency’s people, invitations, or work.
