Client Portal overview

See what clients can find in Portal and where to control it.

Portal is where your clients sign in to see work your agency has shared with them. Your team manages that work in Studio.

What a client can find

  • Projects you have added to their Portal, with any shared schedule and milestones.
  • Files and project updates you have shared.
  • Review actions on files you submit for approval.
  • An Inbox for messages and requests.

Portal also shows the client’s own organization name. The name your agency uses for that client in Studio stays within your workspace.

What you control

Use the client’s Portal Settings to choose which Portal sections appear. Then check sharing on each project and file. A visible section does not automatically show every item inside it.

Start with Manage portal access to check who can sign in. Then share work with clients.

Check your Portal configuration

In Workspace Settings → Client Portal, save your configuration and select Preview example Portal. It uses your saved branding and settings with fictional sample work. You do not need a client account. The example enables all modules; each client’s module settings are separate.

Use Preview base role to select Member or Owner. Under Direct example grants, select Admin, Approver, and Finance independently. Effective example access shows the result. Admin includes Approver and Finance even when their individual checkboxes are clear. Finance alone does not include work approval. Removing Admin leaves any grants you selected separately.

Owner illustrates all grants in the example; selecting it does not assign ownership. Every combination remains a Read-only preview. Sample actions and quick links are inert, so they cannot send messages, approve work, upload files, or change client data. Select Exit example preview to close it and reset the example selections.

A live preview of real client work as your own Profile with a selected role is unavailable.

To inspect a real person’s shared work instead, use Preview Portal as a client. That preview is also read-only, and it does not change your Studio account.
